Accessibility
Accessibility on watersofteners.reviews means every reader, whatever device or assistive technology they use, should be able to find a water softener review, read it and act on it.
Our approach
We build pages to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA as our target. Accessibility is part of how each page is put together, not a check added at the end. The site is designed phone-first, because many readers look up a softener while standing next to the one in their basement or garage.
What we do
- Semantic HTML. Each page has one main heading, with section headings in order beneath it, so screen readers can list and jump between sections. Lists, tables and navigation use the matching HTML elements.
- Alt text. Every informative image has a text description of what it shows. Product photos are described by product name and what is visible.
- Keyboard navigation. All links, buttons and the mobile menu can be reached and used with a keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a visible focus outline.
- Contrast and text size. Body text and links are chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios against their background, and text can be enlarged with normal browser zoom.
- Plain language. We write in short sentences, explain terms such as gpg and gpm the first time they appear, and give numbers in US units.
- Tables that adapt. Comparison tables keep header cells so each value is announced with its column, and on narrow screens they stack into cards rather than forcing sideways scrolling.
- No barriers. There are no pop-ups, autoplaying video or audio, or timed content.
Known limits
Some parts of the experience sit outside our control. Store buttons open product pages on softprowatersystems.com and qualitywatertreatment.com, which have their own designs and their own accessibility standards. Long specification tables can still be demanding to follow by screen reader, so we try to repeat the key figures in the text nearby. We review pages when they are updated and fix problems as we find them.
